Silent Night

Summary:

This is gonig to be a short summary of what happened in the book Silent Night. I am going to be
summarizing the pages 105 to 140. In other words i am going to be summarizing thrity five pages form the
book. I am going to summarize it in a nut shell but not so much that i defeat the purpose of reading the book
yourself. This is the part in the book where the news about the christmas truse starts to spread around. One
person that published a childerns book about it was Michael Foreman. He depicted the war games that
happened between each side of the oppising armys. This was an instent hit and childern everywhere wanted
to read it. The other thing that happened was that people started making comic strips about what they thionk
happened. Many people think that they decided to just celebrate, no it was not like that. What really
happened was alot of government officals and generals got together and signed a treaty saying that both sides
would stop fighting to celebrate christmas, and it was more complicated then most people thought. That is all
i have to say about this topic.
Quote:
This quote I think shows a summary of the book. The quote even has the book title, and when you see the book title in the quote you know it is important. That is why I choose the quote. I am not going to fully divulge the meaning of the quotes because then I would defeat the purpose of reading it.
“After a silent night and day--in many sectors much more than that--the war went on.  The peace seemed nearly forgotten. Yet memories of Christmas 1914 persist, and underlying them the compelling realities and the intriguing might-have-beens. What if...?”
Reaction:
My reaction to the book is that it was a very interesting read. I have always been intere as if you were actually their and it is so vivid in description that you can imagine the scenes happening as you read. Lastly I can’t stress enough that you read this book. That is because I loved it so much and I don’t normally enjoy reading but I did.sted in history from the begging. It is fun to learn about new things. Also that the book is one of my favorite books know. That is because the Author writes itas if you were actually their and it is so vivid in description that you can imagin e the scenes happening as you read. Lastly I can’t stress enough that you read this book. That is because I loved it so much and I don’t normally enjoy reading but I did.

Silnet Night

Summary:

The pages that i am going to summarize in Silent Night are these pages. I am going to summarize pages seventy to one hundered and five. I am going to summarize it but not go so in depth so that i ruin the point of reading the book. Their is not much that happens in these pages because this is the part in the book where it kind of winds down and it talks a little bit more of what happens during the christmas truse. What happened was that the soliders of both sides decided to help show that they respected each other and wanted to make this time special. The way that they did this was that they had the christmas truse games. This was basically a tournament of sports that were popular from both sides of the soliders. Also they did not have a winner in the end it was all about having fun. To  show this they didnt even keep score. This shows that they just wanted to celebrate christmas and have fun. That is basically what happened in the pages. The only other thing that happened was that they talked about it and the news spread to both sides. Also it was published in the newspapers of both home lands of the soliders. That way everyone new that they respected each other and celebrate christmas.

Silent Night post 2

Silent Night
By Stanley Weintraub

Summary:
I am going to give a brief summary of what happens in the book Silent Night. In the pages thirty five to seventy what happens in a nut shell is the book talks about what types of things they did in the Christmas celebration. Also how they celebrated/ honored their differences and dead soldiers. In a sense the way they honored the dead soldiers was that they would have a ceremony for all recently killed soldiers and they would bury all of the soldiers killed. Also to celebrate Christmas the soldiers on both sides sheared their relief packages with one another and give them to the opposing army’s soldiers, and they put aside each others differences to celebrate Christmas. Also they shared food with one another and told stories to one another in the trenches. It shows that the Human race is still kind and caring.

Silent Night post 1

Silent Night
By Stanley Weintraub

Summary:          I am going to give a brief summary of what happens in the first 35 pages of the Book silent night. The first thing that almost all books do at the beginning of the book is they tell the setting of the book and what time period it is in. It happened in the 19hundreds. In the early months of World War 1, on Christmas Eve, men on both sides laid down their arms. Also disregarding the orders of their commanders they came tighter and spontaneously celebrated Christmas. That is basically what happens in the first thirty five pages of Silent Night. Lastly Silent Night is a book that you have to read.

Scanner
Darkly
I am going to give a brief summary of what happened in the beginning of scanner darkly. I have to say that I really enjoyed watching the movie scanner darkly. That is because for one I really enjoy science fiction books and movies. Second because it had a sort of real twist to it. The third reason is because it is about real problems like drugs. I am going to be giving a brief introduction about the beginning and or introduction to the book. I see what is happening in the beginning of the book is there is this drug addict who is addicted to some drug, and it causes him to imagine that he is being eaten alive by bugs and it is caused by the drugs. It is so much of a problem that secret agents are sent in to spy on drug lords and find out what drug is causing the problem and that is basically what happens in the first part of the movie and lastly this movie was assume. That is all I have to say about this topic and that is my roar post number three. The first of three movie posts.

Scanner Darkly

Roar post two

Summary:  This is my second summary about the book Scanner Darkly a science fiction book written by Philip k Dick. I am going to be summarizing the next three chapters in the book, so I am going to be summarizing chapter four, five, and six. I am going to give one or two key points from each chapter I am going to summarize. Also like I said last time I am going to talk about the chapter a little, but not enough that it defeats the purpose of reading the book yourself. The first chapter I am going to summarize is chapter four. The key point that I thought was interesting is how agent Fred and agent hawk meet up and talk about and or share information about drug dealers and users that they found out about. This is interesting because this is one of the first times we see agent Fred and Hawk meat up and talk pity it was gust about work. The next chapter I am going to summarize is you guest it chapter five. The key point that I thought was interesting in this chapter was that bob Arctor takes his two roommates away from there room, and seeing that he is an undercover agent he is doing this to help the cops. He is suspicious of his roommates because he thinks they are druggies. He takes them away from the room so the cops can bug it. I think that is sneaky and interesting. The last chapter that I have to summarize is chapter six. The key point that I thought was interesting in this chapter was how Bob Arctor had a hunch that a drug lord had a plan to take revenge against the nark. Also he thought the way this would happens is by poisoning the nark with a bad batch of drugs, and Bob Arctor is trying to stop this. That is the last chapter I have to summarize.

Quote: I choose this quote because it really stood out for me and I think it really showed the type of style that the author uses in the book.
“Gentlemen, you are about to witness for approximately 61 cents of ordinary household materials, the perfect home-made silencer.”(Pg.90 Philip)

Reaction: This is the reaction that I had to the story and how the author used his style he made it fell like it was a science fiction book. That is because the way that he talked and or narrated the story by making the story seem more fictional because of the way it talks about secret agents and infection of the biting bugs. That is the type of style I got from his book. Also I enjoy the way he narrated and or wrote it because it made it more interesting and made it sound like a hardcore movie and that is the type of style I got from his book.

Scanner Darkly

Roar post one
Summary: I am going to summarize the first three paragraphs in the book scanner darkly. I am going to give you a brief summary of each chapter but not enough so that it gives too much away from the story and defeats the purpose of reading it. The first paragraph I am going to summarize is chapter one. A scanner darkly is about the drug abuse in orange country, California. The way that this story starts out is one drug addict’s bazaar and or strange story. He thinks that he is infected by biting buys. That is how they found out that he was a drug addict. The second chapter I am going to summarize is chapter two. One key point that I liked from this chapter is how there is special and or secret agents in this book. I think the secret agents name is Fred. The one thing that he has to do is speak to the lions club. I am still a little unsure who they are. Fred is also an undercover agent. The key point that I what to talk about in chapter three is how a new character is introduced Charles. He says that he has a new source of drugs. He goes to 7-11 and buys some drugs. Also he purchases a can of solarcaine. Those are all the chapters I have to summarize.

Quote: I choose this quote because it really stood out for me and I think it really showed the type of style that the author uses in the book.

"This change in him as Fred was an economy of the passions. Firemen and doctors and morticians did the same trip in their work."( pg58 Philip)
