Summary: I am going to summarize the first three paragraphs in the book scanner darkly. I am going to give you a brief summary of each chapter but not enough so that it gives too much away from the story and defeats the purpose of reading it. The first paragraph I am going to summarize is chapter one. A scanner darkly is about the drug abuse in orange country, California. The way that this story starts out is one drug addict’s bazaar and or strange story. He thinks that he is infected by biting buys. That is how they found out that he was a drug addict. The second chapter I am going to summarize is chapter two. One key point that I liked from this chapter is how there is special and or secret agents in this book. I think the secret agents name is Fred. The one thing that he has to do is speak to the lions club. I am still a little unsure who they are. Fred is also an undercover agent. The key point that I what to talk about in chapter three is how a new character is introduced Charles. He says that he has a new source of drugs. He goes to 7-11 and buys some drugs. Also he purchases a can of solarcaine. Those are all the chapters I have to summarize.
Quote: I choose this quote because it really stood out for me and I think it really showed the type of style that the author uses in the book.
"This change in him as Fred was an economy of the passions. Firemen and doctors and morticians did the same trip in their work."( pg58 Philip)
Reaction: This is the reaction that I had to the story and how the author used his style he made it fell like it was a science fiction book. That is because the way that he talked and or narrated the story by making the story seem more fictional because of the way it talks about secret agents and infection of the biting bugs. That is the type of style I got from his book. Also I enjoy the way he narrated and or wrote it because it made it more interesting and made it sound like a hardcore movie and that is the type of style I got from his book.
why does this society have such a fascination with drugs?
